20 Jul Firm Wins Anti-SLAPP Appeal
We are delighted to report a big win in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit for our clients Piping Rock Partners and Chris Germain. After our clients filed a defamation suit in the federal district court in San Francisco, the defendants filed what is known as an anti-SLAPP motion. In other words, they wanted to hold Piping Rock and Chris liable for filing their lawsuit. Fortunately, Piping Rock and Chris successfully defeated that motion in the trial court. They then hired our firm to fight off an appeal.
On July 13, 2015, the federal court of appeals ruled in favor of our clients! “This is an emphatic victory for Piping Rock and Chris,” said Adam Wolf, lead counsel in the appeal. “It was a pleasure to represent such well-meaning and nice clients, and we wish them all the best back in the trial court.”
